John Larkin | Profile
John is Head of William Fry’s Insurance Department. His practice focuses on assisting insurance and reinsurance companies to establish in Ireland and advising on cross-border passporting issues. He also advises on M&A deals, portfolio transfers, restructurings and on other insurance-based transactions as well as on regulatory investigations.
Recent significant transactions include advising:
- RSA in relation to the transfer of a block of Irish business comprising some 400,000 policies from a branch to an Irish head office
- AXA Life Europe in relation to its establishment and subsequent expansion into a significant number of European markets
- A number of insurance and reinsurance companies in relation to solvency capital shortfalls and subsequent regulatory issues
John is a member (and former Chairman) of An Taoiseach's IFSC Insurance Group. He is also a former Chairman of the Law Society's EU & International Affairs Committee.
