John is Head of William Fry’s Competition & Regulation Department. He specialises in Irish and EU competition law, State aids, public procurement, telecommunications and EU rules on free movement. He has a broad regulatory focus in a number of other areas, including the media, transport and anti-money laundering.

- HMV on its acquisition of Zavvi’s music stores in Ireland
- Aughinish Alumina on its challenge to a European Commission Decision on the lawfulness of a hydrocarbon tax exemption under State Aid rules
