Fergus is a Partner in William Fry’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department, specialising in commercial litigation and insolvency. He has experience in all aspects of commercial litigation, with a particular emphasis on shareholder disputes, contractual disputes and financial services disputes. His insolvency expertise is advising liquidators, receivers, and examiners of companies, as well as creditors, directors and shareholders of insolvent companies.
Recent significant work includes advising:
- ICDL GCC Foundation FZ-LLC and another in their successful commercial court claim against the European Computer Driving Licence Foundation Limited
- The Joint Administrators of Nortel Networks in its restructuring process
- In a Commercial Court case involving allegations of minority oppression
- In Commercial Court proceedings between Hartside Limited and Heineken Ireland Limited arising from a joint venture agreement between the parties
Fergus lectures on the Law Society of Ireland’s professional training courses. He is a member of the Irish Society of Insolvency Practitioners.
According to Legal 500 EMEA, 2012, Fergus Doorly is ‘technically knowledgeable and very practical’. The 2011 edition praises Fergus as a 'superb tactician'.
