Elaine is a Partner in William Fry’s Banking & Financial Services Department. She advises on syndicated loans, structured finance transactions, large ticket leasing, PPP and project finance transactions, derivatives, debt capital market issues, securitisations and advises generally on the establishment of financial institutions in Ireland (including banking and agency treasury operations) and the regulatory regime.

Recent significant deals include advising:

  • Ardagh Glass Finance plc on its offering of First Priority Senior Secured Loan Notes due 2016
  • University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in its acquisition of a majority stake in Beacon Medical Group Limited, involving the Beacon Hospital Sandyford, which included restructuring existing facilities
  • Aergo Capital Limited on its funding of the acquisition of Safair (Proprietary) Limited and Safair Lease Finance (Proprietary) Limited, a South African aviation leasing company with ancillary business and assets from Imperial Holdings

Elaine is a member of the Irish Business Employers Confederation’s Public Private Partnership (PPP) Group.

Chambers Europe, 2011, describes Elaine Hanly as  'a well-reputed figure on the market, whose broad scope of expertise includes structured finance transactions, debt capital markets and securitisations alongside general banking.'  According to their sources, she is 'a tenacious lawyer who has a superb ability to get things done.'  Chambers Global, 2011, states Elaine's 'tenacity and ability to co-ordinate teams across multiple jurisdictions have won plaudits from clients, who also welcome her hands-on approach.'  Legal 500 EMEA, 2010 reports that Elaine: ‘guides you through the instruction with military precision’. Chambers Global, 2010 says of her: "her extremely broad practice is complemented by her expertise in structured finance, derivatives, securitisation and debt capital markets", and its 2009 edition describes her as “one of the most productive attorneys in Dublin,” reporting that: “her knowledge and attention to detail ensure she puts the strongest case for her side".  Legal 500 EMEA, 2009 also recommends her.  Elaine is ranked as a “leading lawyer” for debt capital markets by ILFR1000.
