Cormac Commins | Profile
Cormac is a Partner in William Fry’s Asset Management & Investment Funds Department and represents some of the largest fund promoters in the Irish market. He specialises in the establishment and operation of all types of investment funds and has a significant UCITS practice.
Recent significant work includes advising:
- Barclays Global Investors (“BGI”) on the proposed sale by Barclays of its iShares exchange traded fund business to CVC Capital Partners Group
- Ahli United Bank plc, one of the largest banks in the Middle East, on the successful redomicilation of their Cayman range of funds to Ireland
- Lazard Asset Management (“Lazard”) on the establishment of an umbrella fund of exchange traded funds as part of Lazard’s non-traditional investment strategy
With over 15 years' experience in the funds arena, Cormac is a regular speaker and participant at fund industry conferences and has also written a number of articles on the area. He has served for many years as a member of the Irish Funds Industry Association's (IFIA) Trustee Committee and is currently co-chair of the IFIA's marketing committee.
According to Chambers Europe, 2011, clients are impressed by 'the technical prowess and service levels' of Cormac Commins. Legal 500 EMEA, 2010 praises Cormac as being recommended for his 'ability to work intuitively with in-house counsel.' IFLR 1000, 2009 says of him Commins has been particularly busy in the last year and clients have been impressed by his work. 'He's very available and responsive to requests' says one.
